Ingredients

  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 dash salt
  • 5-6 apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp milk

Pie Crust

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c Crisco
  • 4 tbsp ice water

Instructions

  • Mix sugars, cinnamon, flour and salt together and set aside.
  • Peel, core and slice apples.
  • Place pie crust in bottom of pan.  Sprinkle some of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the crust.
  • Fill the pan with apples.  Put more of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apples.  Squeeze lemon juice on top.  Cut the butter and place on top of apples.
  • Seal with top crust.  Brush crust with a little milk with a pastry brush.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.  If the crust is getting too brown, place foil around the edges to prevent burning.

Notes:

  • This recipe is for a 9x13 pan.  If you are making a standard round pie, you will not need all of the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
